Choosing the right vinyl panel installation method is crucial for the durability and functionality of your floor. At VinylTechLab, we offer both click vinyl panels and glue-down vinyl panels, allowing us to match the solution to different requirements, room types, and usage intensity.
Click installation - fast, convenient and flexible
The click system is a so-called floating floor. Panels are connected using special locks, without glue. VinylTechLab offers core constructions in this system in collections such as Dawn 2 Dusk, Royal Castle, Moonwalk XL, and Woodlands.
Locks enable quick installation, easy disassembly, and replacement of individual panels. All click models from VinylTechLab have an integrated underlay, improving acoustic comfort and ease of use.
Click also has some tolerance for minor floor irregularities - it doesn't have to be perfectly level, although requirements are still relatively high to avoid dips or deformations of individual panels.
Glue-down vinyl panels - maximum stability and resistance
VinylTechLab glue-down versions are marked with the abbreviation "GD" (Dawn 2 Dusk GD, Royal Castle GD, Woodlands GD). They are recommended where the floor must be exceptionally stable and resistant to heavy loads - both in commercial spaces and demanding home interiors.
Glue-down installation guarantees:
- permanent connection of panels to the substrate
- greater resistance to deformation
- stability assurance even on large surfaces
When to choose VinylTechLab click-mounted vinyl panels?
Click installation will be appropriate when:
- you want quick installation without waiting for glue to dry
- you want the option of easy panel replacement
- you're installing flooring in moderate-traffic rooms (e.g., living room, bedroom, home office)
- you're planning DIY installation – click is the easiest form of installation
It's a great choice for residential interiors where convenience, speed, and aesthetic effect matter.
When is it better to choose glue-down installation?
There are situations when glue-down installation has an advantage:
- high-traffic rooms, e.g., hall, office, store
- larger surfaces - glue minimizes the risk of gaps or panel movement
- unusual substrate conditions - if the substrate is absorbent, rough, or less uniform
- where maximum stability is important - e.g., in commercial spaces
Glue requires a perfectly prepared substrate - it must be level, clean, dry, and load-bearing. Leveling treatments, self-leveling screed, and time for proper glue bonding before use are often necessary.
What to consider when choosing installation technology?
The decision between click and glue should not be random. Here are factors to analyze:
- room type and traffic intensity – the greater the load, the more inclined to use glue
- room size and shape – in smaller or rectangular interiors, click may be sufficient
- substrate quality and condition – click absorbs minor irregularities, glue requires a perfectly level surface
- serviceability – click allows easy panel replacement
- costs and installation time – click installation is usually faster and less expensive
